Description:

Greener Georgia is a charitable initiative aimed at combating global warming by addressing the issue of excessive deforestation. It encourages people to participate in tree planting and afforestation efforts in a distinctive manner, while also advocating for the use of environmentally friendly materials to protect the environment and contribute to a better present and future for all.

Objective:

We collaborate with The Georgia Tree Council and The Georgia Forestry Commission, and Savannah College of Art and Design students take the lead in organizing the Greener Georgia. The goal is to increase forested areas in Georgia and reduce the use of environmentally harmful materials. We encourage people to adopt sustainable materials and make efforts to minimize deforestation.

We have utilized discarded paper and seeds to create handmade recycled paper, which we used to craft booklets and seed packaging. This allows people to engage in second planting and reuse once they don't need them. The overall design incorporates natural colors to evoke a sense of comfort and tranquility. Additionally, we have launched a comprehensive website and app where people can purchase seeds and access more information about the initiative.

Design Process

We have collected a lot of waste paper, which we shredded using a blender to create handmade eco-friendly paper. Additionally, we embedded some seeds within the paper. We use this paper to make booklets and packaging. This approach not only prevents waste but also helps promote our cause: encouraging people to adopt sustainable materials and strive to reduce deforestation. Moreover, these eco-friendly seed papers can be planted in the soil, reducing waste and improving the environment.
